What we are looking for in a Forever Home
Dogs are said to be man's best friend and that's the perfect description for Cooper. He's a handsome boy with a personality to match. Cooper loves his squeaky toys, daily walks, meal times and especially being with his people. And he loves all people, young kids, men and women, other dogs, and even does ok with cats. Cooper is as close to perfect as they come. Since Cooper loves being with his people, we would like a home where there is little alone time and he can be someone's trusted companion. A fenced yard would be nice although we found that daily leash walks are just as important. He's pretty good on leash but like most Brittanys he will pull when he gets distracted or finds something good to smell. His owner needs to be fit to handle his size and strength.
Medical
Cooper was neutered early September and at that time we learned he was heartworm positive. He has a 2-3 grade heart murmur. But, it does not slow him down. We decided to wait a few months before we took Cooper through heartworm treatment. He successfully completed treatment in early December, and is now post 4 weeks. He is resuming exercise again 1-2 miles, but in a few weeks he can do 5 miles a day. He loves his leash walks.
History
Cooper found himself in a very rural shelter in GA. His owner was contacted but it was learned that she wasn't physically able to care for Cooper. So we were asked to help him. He arrived in our rescue on 9-3-2024, he has been exposed to many things children, cats dogs of all kind, he loves them all! We are just so looking forward to the day he can leave the rescue for his own Forever Home!
