A little different from our usual Brittanys, but every bit as deserving of a second chance.
Simcha is a beautiful 3-year-old Spanish Water Dog whose name means “Joy” in Hebrew. And that's exactly what we want for her — to help her find her joy again.
Her mom was sick for a long time and could no longer care for her, leaving Simcha in a very sad situation. So Florida Brittany Rescue stepped in to help this special girl.
Simcha is healthy, with perfect lab work, 4DX negative and fecal negative. She was spayed today and did great!
What she knowsA few things we already know about this sweet girl:
She LOVES to play ball and is an excellent retriever!
Leash trained — and she doesn't pull!
Loves going for rides
Does well in an 8 x 10 kennel — small crates, not so much!
Trusted indoors uncrated and not destructive
She grew up with a large male Lab/Husky mix and a medium sized female Bahamian Potcake and did well with them. With new dogs, she needs some time to feel comfortable. She could absolutely be happy as an only dog.
Simcha is a wash and wear dog! No shedding! Her coat is a woolly texture that is Never brushed or sculpted and may form cords when long.
She can been clipped the same length all over depending on your preference.
So far… NO interest in swimming or water! Apparently someone forgot to tell her she's a Water Dog!
Simcha is a faithful, obedient, lively, hardworking watchful, intelligent with an outstanding learning ability.
BehaviorSimcha takes 50 mg Trazadone twice a day to help calm her down.
She wants to herd and protect her people and pack.
Most Sporting dogs like Brittanys who like to work their noses don't understand herding dogs.
She has no fear of storms, thunder or lightning.
She is fine being left alone.
Children 12 and over would be best in the home.
Simcha needs a job, and a patient owner there are many dogs out there that need medication just like humans do to get through their day.
HistoryWe heard about Simcha and her situation from another rescue in Miami.
Her owner became terminally ill and could no longer care for her. Our volunteer picked her up from the home and she observed a clean & safe environment.
Simcha was looked after and never abused. She always lived indoors and enjoyed the company of the other dogs in the home.
She must be missing her mother terribly, she slept in bed with her until 5 weeks ago.
We are looking for a quieter home where Simcha can decompress, feel safe, and start discovering that life can be joyful again.
